Dear Patients, Colleagues, and Friends,

Dentistry has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I’ve been both blessed and fortunate to have been able to turn my love of dentistry into a career of nearly 45 years.

At age 70, however, I have decided it’s time to pass the torch to someone equally dedicated and passionate about the art of dentistry and who shares my philosophy of treating patients based on what is best for them—and on how we want to be treated ourselves.

After meeting Dr. Margaret McGuire, I knew I had found that person. In fact, Jill and I both felt the same way and can’t imagine anyone else being more perfect to take the reins as your dentist and colleague.

Dr. McGuire earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry and completed her residency at the V.A. Hospital in Temple, Texas. She continues to expand her skills at the Pankey Institute for post-graduate education and is a member of the ADA and the Guilford County Dental Society. Dr. McGuire enjoys volunteering with the North Carolina Missions of Mercy program, which provides free dental care to the neediest among us. And when she isn’t practicing dentistry, Dr. McGuire enjoys running, biking, and home remodeling with her fiancé, Kyle.  

Dr. McGuire’s practice will be called New Leaf Family Dental and will operate in the same location and with the same level of care and compassion you expect. And while Jill and I are both leaving the practice, you will be welcomed by two friendly new faces, Emily and Lorraine. Emily will greet you at the front desk and step into Jill’s role of getting to know you and helping you in every way possible. Lorraine, as Dr. McGuire’s hygienist, will treat you to the comfortable, exceptional cleanings you’ve come to know and expect. Sharon, my friend and right hand for the past five years, will continue to provide you with her warm and professional care as Dr. McGuire’s lead assistant. In fact, Jill and I are excited to place our own dental care in the hands of Dr. McGuire and her staff. And we will look forward to seeing many of you when we arrive for our own dental appointments!   

I will always be thankful for this remarkable, rewarding, and worthwhile career. Some of you have been with me since I started my practice in 1981, and I especially appreciate your loyalty and support. And I am thankful for all of you who have placed your trust and confidence in me over the years. Getting to know you, sharing stories with you, watching your children grow up, and laughing with you when laughter was truly the best medicine for calming the soul and nerves—these are things I will always remember.

Jill and I look forward to the next chapters of our lives as we say goodbye to the office. Greensboro is our home and we aren’t leaving, so we hope to see you around!
